The Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) is pleased to announce the 82 teams––49 girls squads and 33 boys teams––have been accepted into the prestigious ENYYSA Premier League. These squads had outstanding records in their respective leagues, applied and were accepted into the Premier League and will be facing some of the best competition that ENYYSA has to offer.

Not surprisingly, the Long Island Junior Soccer League, ENYYSA’s largest league and one of the world’s largest soccer leagues, contributes the most teams with 27. 18 Westchester Youth Soccer Soccer League teams will be competing followed by 17 East Hudson Youth Soccer League sides, 11 Capital District Youth Soccer League teams, four from the Hudson Valley Youth Soccer League, three from the Cosmopolitan Junior Soccer League and one team apiece from the Central New York State Youth Soccer League and the Staten Island Youth Soccer League. The schedule is being created right now with plans to kick off in March and conclude in June. Congratulations to the entire line-up of ENYYSA Premier League teams:

]]> http://www.rvcsoccer.net/home/600016.html Winter Soccer for Intramural Players in Kindergarten to 2nd Grade 12/22/2011 09:02 AM http://www.rvcsoccer.net/home/479323.html During the winter, the RVCSC allocates school gym time to the intramural program and encourages 2nd grade and above intramural players to participate at LIJSL sanctioned indoor tournaments. Depending on grade, the school gym time may be a clinic run by a professional trainer or may be pick up games. Coaches taking intramural players to LIJSL sanctioned indoor tournaments are required to rotate rosters and not bring the same children each and every time. Parents of the intramural players participating in the indoor tournament are responsible for all fees associated with the event. Use of school gym time and participation at indoor events under the RVCSC’s banner must adhere to our founding mission for intramurals: include all interested players. 

Information about LIJSL sanctioned indoor tournaments can be found on Long Island Junior Soccer League’s website: www.lijsoccer.com.

In addition to LIJSL sanctioned indoor tournaments, there are other tournaments, leagues, and development programs that are run through the winter months. Although the RVCSC does not organize participation in any of these tournaments, leagues or development programs, it does want its families of intramural players to be aware that there are options available. Organizations that offer winter soccer activities include but are not limited to:

When considering participation of intramural players in indoor activities the RVCSC does suggest taking into consideration factors that include:

  • Playing surface with artificial grass preferred over gym floor
  • Size of the playing space with adequate space for the format of the competition
  • Time, length and cost of the activity
  • Anticipated level of competition

Please be aware that the RVCSC’s general liability insurance policy does not extend beyond ENYYSA events. For events not sanctioned by ENYYSA, please be certain that the organization has adequate liability coverage.

Although the RVCSC does not organize participation in indoor tournaments and leagues, it does require that coaches be inclusive rather than exclusive regarding participation in these activities. Commissioners are asked to monitor participation in these events. According to the USSF’s Best Practices for Coaching Soccer in the United States, the level of skill and competence that a 9-year-old exhibits is no indication of the skill and competence he or she will exhibit at 16 or 18 years of age. You cannot predict which 9-year-old will develop into an advanced player. 

The RVCSC encourages each player to continue playing the beautiful game of soccer and keep their skills sharp between seasons. It is also strongly recommended and critical to the interested soccer player’s development to spend time with the ball on their own. Information regarding programs being offered in the school gyms will be forthcoming. We will also try to offer grade level pick up games weather permitting.

The Soccer Squirts sessions are open to all children currently attending Pre K . This is an eight week program that is held at Sportset on Maple Avenue in Rockville Centre.  This is not a drop off program.  A parent or guardian must be present during the entire class session. 

Session dates:

Our Soccer Squirts classes will not be held over the February school break - February 22nd and 23rd. Classes will be extended another week to February 29th and March 1st.

Wednesday 12:30-1:30 

1/4 1/11 1/18 1/25 2/1 2/8 2/15 and 2/22.
 
Thursday  11:30-12:30 and 12:30-1:30
 
1/5 1/12 1/19 1/26 2/2 2/9 2/16 and 2/23 

Sessions will be limited to 18 children and registration is done online. Click on the link below to access the registration system.  Under programs, select the check box for the Soccer session that you want.  Volunteers for coaching are not requested.

The cost is $100.00 and you will be charged to get on a waiting list.  The entire cost will be refunded if your child is not moved off the waiting list.

First Steps is comprised of 7 training sessions with a professional trainer.  The cost of the progrm is $65 and registration is done online.  Go to the First Steps page for more information.  The dealine for registration is March 12th.

Second Steps is a 7 week program that is a combination of training sessions, weekend match conditions, and tournament play.  Training sessions and match conditions are supervised by a professional trainer.  Tournament teams are coached by parent volunteers.  The cost of the program is $100 and registration is done online.  Go to the Second Steps page for more information.  The deadline for registration is February 10th.

Next Steps is a 7 week program that is a combination of training sessions and weekend match conditions.  Training sessions and match conditions are supervised by a professional trainer.  The cost of the program is $125 and registration is done online.  Go the the Next Steps page for more information.  The deadline for registration is February 10th.

Your credit card will be charged but all fees will be refunded if your child is not placed on a team. 

There are two components to Intramural registration.  The registration fee, which covers participation in the Fall and Spring seasons, is $115.  The uniform fee, which includes a reversible jersey, shorts and socks is $35.  Although all players are required to have a uniform, ordering a uniform is optional because players are encouraged to use the same uniform for more than one year. First time registrants must order a uniform
